To protect our clients, First Carolina Bank would like to advise business owners to take basic precautions to protect their business(es).
Business bank accounts are covered by the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). Under the UCC, businesses have shorter reporting timelines, less protections, and higher liability for fraud than consumer bank accounts.
Checks: The UCC requires all unauthorized checks to be returned within 24 hours from when they post to your business account.
ACH: NACHA rules require business-to-business unauthorized or fraudulent electronic items to be returned within 24 hours from posting to your business account.
We offer products and services, including both ACH and Positive Pay Fraud Protection, that are designed to detect and deter check fraud and unauthorized ACH transactions.
